Ankle fractures in children generally heal in 4 to 6 weeks. The stabilizing effect of a splint, cast, or surgery will lessen the pain. The pain improves as the healing process advances, and omst pain is gone within 2 weeks after the injury. Your child's doctor may prescribe pain medication to help with the pain.
