Remember how I had to lose over 30lbs to go from a size 18 to a size 16? It only took about 5lbs to go from 6 to 4. When I started losing weight, I didn't even set any size goals because I didn't want the inevitable, I thought, failure.

The lesson to be learned is that fat, like paper towels, comes off in sheets. When you are heavy, you are big around. And when you are big around, that fat is spread over a MUCH larger area - just like that outside towel sheet. The closer you get to the lean you, the more each lost pound of fat shows, because it is spread over a smaller area.

For the sake of this analogy, you are the roll of paper towels, and each sheet is a pound of fat. When your roll of paper towels is new, each time you take a sheet, you don’t see a noticeable change in how the roll looks. Lesson: At the beginning of a diet, you may not see massive changes from one pound of fat loss, because fat loss occurs ...

So I'd say the paper towel effect happened for me as I inched closer to a healthy BMI. 143 was the beginning of that, so between 150 and 143 is when I began to have the wow factor with weight loss. The paper towel effect is real, ya'll! Definitely worth working towards.
How far from your goal weight did the paper towel effect start? I am a 20M, 6’1, 217lbs, GW: 187lbs. I have basically lost 50 pounds, starting at 265 pounds. While I do see a noticeable difference in my progress pictures, I basically still have a stomach and moobs, just smaller then they were. My goal weight is 187 pounds, so I am 30 pounds away.

The Paper Towel Effect is Real! [182 > 167=15lbs] Last night, I put on a dress that I knew fit me well... 15lbs ago. That dress now hangs like a potato sack. I was absolutely blown away because throughout most of my weight loss journey, it took a huge amount of weight to really see a difference. Now that I’m edging towards a healthy weight ...
Let’s compare weight loss to a roll of paper towels. Think of your body like a roll of paper towels. Fat, like paper towels, comes off in sheets. When you are heavy, you are big around. That fat is spread over a MUCH larger area, just like the beginning of a roll of paper towels. The first sheet may only cover one layer of the roll.
